Store Migration
A store migration is the move of an online store to a new platform — from Shopware, Magento or WooCommerce to Shopify, for example — including data, design and integrations.
A migration is far more than a data export: products with variants and metafields, customers, order history, content pages, SEO structure, integrations (ERP, fulfillment, payment, email) and the frontend all have to arrive on the new platform and work. Good projects therefore start with an audit: what exists, what gets carried over, what is deliberately rethought?
The critical success factors are the data model (how are attributes, variants and prices represented in Shopify?), the SEO concept (redirect mapping for every indexed URL, meta data, content carry-over) and the integration architecture. Mistakes in these areas only surface after go-live — and then they are expensive.
The process usually follows the same pattern: audit and concept, data migration in test runs, theme build, integrations, content, testing, redirects and a planned cutover with a frozen data state. Depending on complexity, migrations take anywhere from a few weeks to several months; a clean plan beats a rushed move every time.

What happens to my Google rankings during a migration?
With complete redirect mapping, carried-over meta data and equivalent content, rankings generally remain stable. Without an SEO concept, however, a migration is the single biggest SEO risk a store can take.
