Shopify POS

Online and in-store. One system. One truth.

Separate systems cause data silos and double effort. Shopify POS connects both worlds.

    The Problem

What happens when your online store and your shop run separately?

Many retailers run their online store and physical shop on separate systems.

    Inventory Chaos

Sold out online, still available in store - or vice versa. Every discrepancy ends in a cancellation or a missed sale.

    Fragmented Customer Data

Online buyers and store visitors aren't recognized as the same person. Loyalty and reporting run into nothing as a result.

    Double Maintenance

Prices and products need to be maintained in two systems. The workload grows with every additional location.

    No Holistic Analysis

Total revenue and customer behavior can't be consolidated, because the figures from both channels have to be pulled together by hand.

    Shopify POS

How does Shopify POS connect shop and online store?

Shopify POS is the native extension of your Shopify store to physical retail. Shop floor and online store share one product catalog, stock, customers and discount logic in a single system, with no interface to maintain in between.

    Unified Inventory

One stock level for all channels - shop floor and online store read the same numbers. Overselling and cancellations caused by two diverging stock figures fall away.

    360° Customer Profile

Every purchase feeds into a unified customer profile, whether it happens at the till or in the online store. Loyalty and reporting work off one shared data foundation.

    Centralized Reporting

Revenue and channel comparisons sit in one dashboard instead of two exports. Total revenue and customer behaviour can be analysed without consolidating the figures by hand first.

    Features

    What can Shopify POS do?

    Omnichannel Checkout

Click & collect, order in store and ship home, returning an online purchase at the till - all from the same product catalog and the same stock.

    Customer Loyalty

Loyalty programs, gift cards and cross-channel vouchers that apply online and in store, because both channels use the same customer and discount data.

    Flexible Payments

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more via card terminals at the counter. Every sale lands in the same reports as the online store, with no re-entry.

    Multi-Location

Multiple locations run in one system. Stock is held per location without products, prices and promotions having to be maintained again for every branch.

One source of truth online and in store

    One inventory

Store and online shop sell from the same stock without duplicate maintenance or conflicting numbers.

    One customer profile

Purchases across both channels create one history for service, loyalty and marketing.

    One reporting view

Analyse revenue and customer behaviour across channels without combining exports first.

    Process

How does a POS project run with us?

    1. 01

Take stock of the shop floor

We look at how you ring up sales, handle exchanges and reorder today, and which systems hang off that. From there it follows what Shopify POS replaces and what stays.

    2. 02

      Settle data ownership

Before setup we define which system owns products, prices and stock. Without that decision the till becomes a third source that contradicts the other two.

    3. 03

      Configure locations and payments

Locations, stock handling and payment methods are set up, along with the hardware at the counter: card terminals, receipt printers and barcode scanners. Products and stock are synchronised.

    4. 04

      Pilot at one location

The process runs at a single location with real sales first. Only once checkout, exchanges and stock postings run cleanly do further locations follow.

    5. 05

      Rollout, training and reporting

Before go-live we train the staff at the till and accompany the launch. After that we set revenue and stock from both channels against each other in shared reporting.

    Fit

Is Shopify POS your next step right now?

Then you are starting in the right place

Store and shop floor run separately

Your online store and your retail location sit on two systems that know nothing about each other. Every reconciliation is manual work.

    Stock levels drift apart

Sold out online, still on the shelf in store - or the other way round. Every discrepancy ends in a cancellation or a missed sale.

    The same customer counts twice

Online buyers and store visitors are not recognised as the same person. Loyalty and reporting run into nothing as a result.

    Prices are maintained twice

Products, prices and promotions have to be updated in both systems. The workload grows with every location.

Then something else will do more for you

Your ERP owns stock and prices

As long as the connection to your ERP or inventory system is unresolved, the till becomes a third contradictory source of data.

    To system integration

Your online store is not on Shopify yet

Shopify POS is the native extension of a Shopify store. Without that basis, the platform decision comes first.

    To strategy & consulting

This is about business customers, not the shop floor

Shopify POS covers physical retail. If this is about customer groups, price lists and orders from business customers, that is a different problem.

    FAQ

    Common questions about Shopify POS

    What is Shopify POS?

Shopify POS is Shopify's point-of-sale system for physical retail and the native extension of your Shopify store. It runs as an app on an iPad or smartphone. Products, stock, customers and discount logic live on the same data foundation as the online store, instead of in a second system with its own interfaces to maintain.

Do the online store and the shop really stay in sync?

Yes, because both channels draw on the same stock level. That removes the case where an item is sold out online but still sitting in the shop - and vice versa. Otherwise that gap is exactly what produces cancellations and missed sales, and every reconciliation stays manual work.

What hardware do you need for Shopify POS?

The basis is an iPad or smartphone running the POS app. Then comes the hardware at the counter: card terminals for card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, receipt printers and barcode scanners. Configuring card readers and till systems is part of the project with us, not a self-service handover.

What fiscal rules apply to till systems?

Local fiscal requirements matter. In Germany, for example, till systems must be paired with a certified technical security device (TSE) under the cash register security regulation. A certified solution alongside Shopify POS is mandatory there. That question belongs early in the planning of a retail rollout, not shortly before launch.

What happens to my existing customer data?

Customer data and order history from your previous system are transferred. After that, every purchase - online or in store - feeds into a unified customer profile. The same customer is no longer counted twice, and loyalty programs, gift cards and reporting work across both channels.

Does this work with several locations?

Yes. Multiple locations run in one system, with stock held per location and no duplicate maintenance of products and prices. The omnichannel processes build on that: click & collect, ship from store and returning an online purchase in the shop. Revenue and channel comparisons land in shared reporting.

    Does my team need training?

Yes, and it is part of the project. Before go-live we train the staff at the till and accompany the launch instead of just handing over the hardware. Before that, one location runs on real sales so that checkout, exchanges and stock postings are proven.
