ApproachHow do you make your product data readable for AI assistants?
01Measure current citations
We ask the assistants the same questions your customers ask and record which stores are named - and with which statement. That is the baseline everything is measured against later.
02Close data gaps
Everything that matters in a purchase decision moves out of images and body copy into product fields and metafields: dimensions, material, compatibility, delivery time, returns.
03Roll out markup
Product, Offer, Organization, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList are marked up completely and checked for errors in Search Console.
04Make pages answerable
Existing category, product and guide pages are rebuilt so the leading question is answered within the first 100 words.
05Open channels for assistants
Shopify MCP, feeds and crawler access are set up and tested so assistants can query range and availability live.
06Measure repeatedly
Citations, assistant traffic in GA4 and bot hits in the server log are compared on a fixed cadence. The trend in your own store shows which content actually gets cited and which does not.
FAQFrequently asked questions about GEO and agentic commerce
What is GEO?
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: optimizing to be named and linked as a source inside the answers of generative systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Overviews. It is not about a position in a results list, but about whether your statements appear in an answer.
What is the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO targets clicks from a results list, GEO targets being named in a generated answer. The technical basis is the same: crawlable pages, structured data, clear structure. The difference lies in how content is cut. You will find the overview of both disciplines on our SEO & agentic commerce page.
How do you measure visibility in AI answers?
Through three sources: repeated, logged test questions to the assistants, referrer and session data in GA4 for visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot, and server logs for AI crawler hits. Only the combination shows whether a measure had an effect.
What is agentic commerce?
Agentic commerce means an AI assistant prepares or completes the purchase - selects products, checks availability and triggers checkout. For your store that means product data, prices and inventory have to be available live through an interface, not just rendered in the theme.
ACP or UCP - which should you bet on?
The Agentic Commerce Protocol by OpenAI and Stripe currently (January 2026) costs 4 % of the referred revenue, the Universal Commerce Protocol by Google and Shopify charges no referral fee. Both are young. The sensible move is to keep the data basis clean regardless of protocol and tie the decision to reach and margin.
What is Shopify MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. Shopify provides an interface through which AI assistants can query a store's catalog, availability and cart in a structured way - instead of relying on whatever a crawler happens to find on the page.
How long does GEO take to work?
Technical changes to markup and product data take effect as soon as the systems crawl again - usually within a few weeks. Whether your store gets cited as a source also depends on how often your statements are confirmed elsewhere. Plan in months and measure regularly.
Do you need Shopify Plus for this?
Not for GEO. Structured data, maintained metafields and answerable content work on any Shopify plan. Shopify Plus becomes relevant for parts of the agentic commerce setup and for deeper checkout changes - but that decision follows the use case, not the feature list.
Is your store named in AI answers at all?
We ask the assistants your customers' questions, show you who gets cited instead - and what is missing in your data.
